But not George Santos. Only people he considers bad asses or the super rich that have kissed his ass enough times get pardons. One might also buy one I suppose (federal bribery).

Bribery. Sounds like Trump’s favorite MO- as long as he gets the bribe.

It’s like he always finds the worst possible person to buddy up to. Thank God Obama killed bin Laden before Trump had a chance to invite him to the White House.

In case you didn’t click, “The Department of Justice had said in a press release in March that he had received over $75,000 in cash payments for „appointing numerous Northern Virginia businessmen as auxiliary deputy sheriffs within his department.“
After he was caught, he sought to manipulate the judicial process and to evade responsibility for his crimes by lying to the Court and the jury,“ Lee added.
„In sum, Jenkins‘ lies and abuses of power in the instant case are not an aberration,“ he said. „Since his early days in law enforcement, Jenkins has displayed a shocking disregard for his ethical and legal responsibilities.“

Yo Conservatives, remember when Biden pardoned his family and you said that was an admission of guilt?

So this clown is simply doing what trump does. All. The. Time.
He took money from local businessmen and in return he appointed them as „auxiliary deputy sheriffs“ which of course would allow them a certain amount of political capital in terms of built in respect and assumption of good standing in the community (and an out for speeding tickets too).
Here’s more details about what he did. Just corrupt quid pro quo that put money in his pocket in exchange for perks he was able to hand out because he was in a position of power. He did nothing to earn that money. He abused the public trust and leveraged a high paying and prestigious position for money.
Do you think you have to have this sort of wrong doing explained and taught to you (as a member of the public watching this happen) or is this sort of thing just clearly unfair and wrong? I ask because maybe the fact that these actions feel plainly wrong to me on a gut level is just because of learning it is wrong growing up and in HS and college. Because I just don’t get how people are accepting how trump operates and how these powerful and intensely greedy people get away with these actions.
Are we a society that will begin to forget our traditional values and morals because of this orange stain that has plagued our society for so long? Maybe might makes right, and grabbing all you can, via any means possible is the way to be and the way to live? I just get disturbed by the possible realization that we humans may not actually have any sort of moral compass and it truly is might makes right and laws of the jungle.
