Ein weiteres historisches Gebäude wurde gestern zerstört – obwohl es sich im „offiziellen Register“ befand – es wurde 1887 vom aserbaidschanischen Architekt Mashadi Mirza Gafar Ismayilov erbaut

It is just sad
Really what is the legal reason behind it? And what’s the legal reasoning that keeps such buildings from being protected for having historical elements?
To build what instead? Keep us updated.
Every building becomes „historical“ at some point, so I don’t see the issue with demolishing some of them?
This particular one is not a UNESCO heritage site lol and has no historical significance, other than being just old (please do correct me if I’m wrong).
By this logic, no building should ever be demolished.
If there were no legal protection zones for historical buildings, they would definitely raze even İçərişəhər to the ground to build cheap and ugly high-rises. Azerbaijan is not a country – it’s a personal fiefdom of the ruling dynasty where 10 million people are serfs of a single mustached man.
