Shocker. The guy that said Canada is an artificial country doesn’t want to attend the opening of its parliament with its head of state.

I dont know who this looks bad on.
Carney for knowing the bloc likely hates this.
Or the bloc for appearing not as part of national unity.

This isn’t too surprising, I believe they’ve walked out of the throne speech before and they’re usually critical of it
Either way, I think it was almost guaranteed Carney would get past the throne speech, but this seals it.

Wha .. wha .. wha .. will the incessant whining ever stop. The BQ has half the Quebec seats that the Liberals have yet he thinks he is representative of the population. Separatist ideology cooked up in the political boys clubs of decades ago that have repeatedly failed to deliver. Much like the western separatist sentiment it spawned it’s half baked at best.

Last I checked King of Canada and King of the UK are different title. Even if it’s the same person. Why run for a Parliament seat in a country that you cant even respect its tradition? I am all for moving away from the monarchy, but right now be civil and have some respect.

Whether you want him as our king or not, he currently *is* our King. Calling him foreign is… I dunno, a little odd, yeah?

The Bloc does this EVERY throne speech. It’s not exactly new. The only real difference is this time they can actually put the king’s name in their statements.

It’s fun to see all the comments from people who don’t understand the whole Head of state thing but talk about Canadian politics all the time.
Edit: Maybe now you are starting to see how different we actually are from America.

Much to YFBs dismay, the crown of Canada is not foreign. It is our crown. Our king is our king.

The bloc is just air wasted. Imagine what Trump would do for Quebec if we ever got annexed. Obviously, I don’t want to be annexed, but every time I hear the whiny complaints from the Bloc, I wonder if they appreciate how lucky they are.

Quebec will NEVER recognize the foreign king of England under any circumstances.
You guys are pushing us towards separatism by trying to shove him down our throat.

My certificate of citizenship is fairly recently issued and… checks notes… hmm yeah seems like there is a king charles on it.

I appreciate the Bloc reminding us that not all Canadians (in any province) support the monarchy, even in these times when we’re being pushed hard to associate it with nationalist solidarity.
