This is a bad situation. This masked ICE agents are giving way to much power. Instead of just asking people names and being civil. Issue must be addressed.
I’m sure the defense will be “it was a legitimate order.”
In Nazi Germany, soldiers were given Guidelines for the Behavior of the Troops – instructing them that they had to act brutally. “This war demands ruthless and aggressive action against Bolshevik agitators, snipers, saboteurs, and Jews, and tireless elimination of any active or passive resistance.” Our elected leaders don’t see the children of who they believe were illegal immigrants as citizens either and this is just what’s next. And as we’ve seen, once they’ve deported you, they’re “powerless” to get you back.
US law enforcement already behaves like a paramilitary organization bent on the violation of individual rights based on a twisted understanding of protection of the state and private property from the individual. These are the next logical steps: broader categories of enemies of the state that must be subdued, deep suspicion of racial and ethnic groups that don’t fit the proto-ethno-religious-nationalist state that republicans are attempting to forge. Citizens who don’t match that ideal are next.
You’d think it was bad politics to arrest law abiding Americans, but if you don’t intend to validate elections results if you lose, it doesn’t matter.
What exactly are the laws around masking and police? Are there any? If an ID request is made, does a modern ID shield include a photo ID?
I would like the Democrats to run in 2026 on using the authority of Congress to investigate and document every criminal abuse and corrupt act of all of these people. Not just Trump but every bootlicking MAGA agent.
There needs to be a clear signal that these people will all eventually be held to account. They feel emboldened now and probably have another 2-4 years of violating our rights, but it would be good for them to worry about what happens once the party’s over.

ICE is playing a dangerous game with their minimal identification, hidden faces, etc. Unless a badge is clearly visible and a warrant is ready, you could just be any random fatass LARPing as law enforcement. And that is a scary mix.

Among MAGAts ‚Immigrant‘ is just a euphemism for people of color. There is a profound and disgusting racism behind this push to blame all of American’s woes on ‚immigrants‘.
Immigrants have historically been the engine that drove American strength and growth. Wave after wave of immigrants have come to our country – Irish, Italians, Jews – and each wave has made us stronger. Because immigrants work, they pay taxes, they fight for our country, they raise their families, and they work in our factories and farms, and they buy our goods and services. They contribute to our economy far more than they take.
Yet, now we are told they simultaneously take our jobs, and leech off of government assistance. They are both so hard working that ‚real Americans‘ can’t compete, and yet at the same time they are so lazy that ‚real Americans‘ are stuck supporting them. Somehow we are expected to believe that today’s waves a immigrants are a menace, and a threat to our way of life. Everything is immigrant’s fault – even government excess spending which has been going on since the 1960’s – decades before today’s immigrants were even born.
The ‚immigrant invasion‘ they want us to fear is just another McCarthyism – another trick to convince us to give up our freedoms, our rights, in exchange for being kept safe from this phony menace.

I think Trump was very clear about what his conception of making America again really is. It’s taking us back to the 1950s, when racial discrimination was rampant and whites who towed the line benefitted. I am disgusted that we could digress so far so fast.
