That must have been a devastating revelation, especially after realising that you stand no chance at winning after having seen the competition. Fair play for trying to save face with this bogus story.
Hell yeah. Good for her. I’m rarely proud to be British. Usually we’re a bunch of wankers but she stuck up for her values and she has my backing.
It’s past time to end these silly contests. And child ones too (looking at you USA).

Good on her for standing up for herself if she felt unsafe or exploited, but my god, this seems entirely what I’d expect from a ‚Miss World‘ contest. Horrible, outdated competition. (At least, I assume – the idea itself sounds so naff and icky to me).
