The subtext from National Post being that „Carney is an elitist and we’re not meant to feel sorry for him or his daughter,“ as if that were ever a proposition in the first place.

If they want to chase away talent. Let them. There are other schools as good in other countries. This is yet another own goal by the Trump administration.
One thing we generally haven’t done in Canada is talk much about politicians‘ kids. I’d prefer if we keep to that?
