Three years ago, Congress approved the installation of a plaque honoring police officers who defended the Capitol during the Jan 6. riot—but the bronze memorial is currently sitting in a Capitol basement utility room and hasn’t seen the light of day.
House Speaker Mike Johnson has not instructed the Capitol Architect to install it. And according to Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, “the reason why the law hasn’t been complied with and a plaque hasn’t been erected is because Republicans, directed by their puppet master Donald Trump, have been told to erase Jan. 6 as if it has never happened.”
Reminder that republicans hate police and the military.

Just a hop, skip, and a jump from saying it never even happened! 🤷

Yeah, no shit, they don’t want people to think about how they helped kill a cop and injure dozens. They would never do that. They love cops, and the troops.

well in fairness it doesn’t make sense to honor the police while paying out terrorists ugly families for the same attack.

We can give $5m to the family of a person who was shot breaking and entering after being warned, but we can’t throw up an already paid for and sculpted statue for the people who were trying to defend Congressional lives.
So fucking stupid.

Trump’s legacy is permanently stained by Jan 6. And it infects most of the current Republicans. There’s no escaping that fact.

Yep, pretty soon it will all be erased from any website or books. This is the GOP loving the uneducated.

So they don’t want to honor the people who protected their asses as they fled for safety. . Typical. I still remember that one congressman egging it on and then running like a coward.

The fact they are so adamant about drawing the battle lines around J6, shows they acknowledge it was an act of war committed by their side. The litmus test for the Republican/Conservative Party in the US is now full endorsement of insurrection and violence as a tool for political gains.
There is no denying America is in the midst of a Civil War that has been fully escalated by the Right Wing.
