When you stand up and say „The days where South Asian communities get to lead political parties and get to lead countries is now upon us“ then others can easily infer that to imply that imparting minority beliefs and values will be part of your political agenda of leading a country.
Even if that’s not what is inferred or meant.
I was expecting the ad to be unfair but actually it’s pretty sensible.
Is this an unreasonable suggestion to make about someone whose dad left the British Parliament to run for office in Pakistan?
Is there any suggestion the £7k came from public funds? If not then what does it matter how much it cost
Reform has one weakness Farage’s ongoing Trump butt kissing and his support for the extreme MAGA views, we need changes but not at the expense of truth and not with hatred, there’s enough of the latter in this country already.
Sarwar says his comments have been taken out of context, but what exactly was the context supposed to be then? In any case these ads hardly seem outrageous by the standards of political campaigning. Even if there is appropriate context for the original remarks, well, political advertisements stretch the truth all the time regardless of party affiliation.
7000 pounds is like a quarter page ad in a local newspaper.

Sarwar walked straight into this. His comment was an unforced error. His comment was even worse than Reform are making out. He didn’t say „British Pakistanis should be represented in every political party“, he said „*Pakistan* should be represented in every political party“. No foreign country should be represented in any British political party. Reform have gone easy on him.

These people are immensely tribal, this absolutely has to be dealt with otherwise it will slowly and silently dismantle our government and economic structures.
The UK works by in large because we have a good approximation of meritocracy where individuals vote and hire and promote individuals based on merit. These tribal structures work where tribal members vote and hire and promote based on clan membership as a block. It is antipathetic to our whole societal structure.

Admittedly he should probably have been more careful with his statements. Something like „Achieve real representation“ would have been much harder to take out of context than „get to lead“. The statement he gave was practically a gift to reform.

I’m sorry but this is a textbook political own goal. Even if Sarwar didn’t mean it in that context, his words could easily be interpreted by others as him prioritizing the Pakistani community.
[With Labour already tied with Reform in the latest Survation poll (8th May)](https://www.survation.com/new-survation-polling-shows-the-effect-of-reforms-disruptive-rise-in-scotland/), I see the very real risk of a Labour & Tory wipeout if Reform play their cards right. The SNP will still win big in Holyrood, but it says a lot more about how badly Labour are doing and how unpopular Reform are in Scotland compared to England.
