I think we [all know](https://imgs.xkcd.com/comics/standards_2x.png) how this goes…
Pay to park your car and then pay for the privilege of paying for your parking. No thanks. Easier to just not park in a car park unless you have to be super close to your destination.
Wasn’t a problem when it was cash and then cash/debit card only. Let’s go back that. But then people won’t be able to use (be forced to use) their phones for every single thing they do in their lives.

The government should mandate that all council car parks be opted in to the system with no exceptions.
This is a good way to stop money going to foreign businesses with no footprint here when people park, of course it will be hosted on AWS and use MasterCard/visa for payment processing, but it’s better than before.
It’s a good place to start, we need more of this.
At the very least we need to crack down the practice of 2 tier pricing, where you get charged double the amount if you don’t want to use the app (looking at you NCP).
This is sorely needed.
I get why some people don’t like using apps and the fact there’s a billion of them is one of the reasons.
I think they’re great because you can extend without having to go back to the car and pay for the parking on your way out, no need for a ticket to display.
Once I was delayed on the train and my parking was coming up. I extended on the app, as it text me to say my parking was expiring. When I got to the car call, who’s on patrol?! The warden! Saved my myself about £60.
Here’s a crazy idea. How about just allowing us to pay up-front a monthly or yearly charge for unlimited or a set number of hours parking. Then just send emails out to notify of hours consumed. This ticketing non-sense is like a vendetta to just make us feel trapped.
I’ve got at least 3 different parking apps on my phone, for a variety of different places. Went to a car park last week and it took none of them. The hassle to pay to park is ridiculous.

Can we get a feature for reporting legacy cars in charging bays?

I can get onboard with this.
However, WiFi or any kind of mobile reception can be patchy especially around tourist hotspots and coastal destinations.
Second, it may stop scammers sticking up QR codes in car parks to phished parking websites if drivers know there is only one legitimate parking app operating within the UK.
We had this scam going round my nearest city car parks recently, I tracked the web domain owner to a postal box in the USA.
One thing about the switch to labour from tories: I feel like a decent chunk of news stories are about good/progressive things, vs about how scumbags have fucked or are actively fucking the country/planet/people in a myriad of ways.
The use of scanning QR codes to verify/pay for parking should be banned nationwide as many of those QR codes are flyposted onto signs or walls causing motorists to be defrauded.
I got a parking fine even though I had the bank transaction to show them.
They insisted without the ticket I was still liable.

One of my absolute gripes with today’s technology. Our lives were meant to be made simpler, easier, quicker, more convenient with the dawn of smartphone and apps..it has not!
What was wrong with a nationwide currency that would be accepted in any ticket machine, anywhere you go? Even contactless was acceptable.
It seems no critical thinking was put into parking apps… multiple apps for different carparks. A game of snakes and ladders which app for what carpark. Oh wait, you don’t have that app already? You better pop online (if you have signal), download said app, register, verify registration, login, 2FA, add in bank details AND finally, just maybe, get around to paying for parking!
There was nothing wrong with popping in a couple of coins and pressing a green button… literally done in 5 seconds.
Now it’s the wheel of misfortune with these parking apps. If there was a mandatory universal parking app where I have to give my details only once, and it works in all carparks,then I’m all for it.
But this multiple apps bs has to end.
