Did you read the words? or just get fooled buy the clickbait headline? Here is a direct quote from that article; „and while Anderson received a standing ovation, boos could be heard peppered in with gushing cheers.“
So, in reality, he got a standing ovation for his film, and a couple of people booed.

Color me not shocked. Asteroid City was horrible.

😬
I was really looking forward to that…
I didn’t like „Asteroid City“ either.

Can we get a time frame on the booing like we do with the clapping please. I need to know if it was for 10 seconds for 15 minutes

Love his movies up until The Grand Budapest Hotel but something about French Dispatch and Asteroid City left me extremely cold. They almost felt clinical in what they were trying to do.
This didn’t seem any different.

Sight unseen, I know it’s not *that* bad.

There’s got to be a reasonable response in between booing a movie and giving it a standing ovation for 10 minutes, but I dunno, I’m not French.

Just as a lover of movies, I really wish he’d change his style to something more palatable and less drenched in aesthetic. You can fill your movies with as much „surgical eccentricity“ as you want but if it’s not entertaining, it might as well be a painting. It’s his style, he owns it, he’s done well with it, he gets tons of love for it – I’m just saying, I can’t enjoy any of his films since maybe Grand Budapest and that’s unfortunate.

Oooooh it’s that good? Excellent.

Every movie gets booed at Cannes

They weren’t saying Boo, they were saying Boo-anderson.

I feel like that’s not entirely true. It has a 76% on rotten tomatoes which tends to mean it’s decent enough. I guess the people who booed it are the other 24%.

Disgustingly false headline. 76% on RT with 56 reviews. It’s not going to be his best and maybe he needs to recalibrate but far from what you’re making it out to be.

Sad to admit I fell asleep in the theater while watching Asteroid City

Regardless of how accurate Cannes reporting is on films, he needs to take a break. No one needs 2-3 Wes Anderson films a year. They’re diminishing returns each time.

Cannes isn’t really indicative of anything
