This has been tried and played out. They’ll pretend like they’re revolting or are upset, and then at the very last second it’ll be a landslide vote to gut everything. Don’t hold water and let these people pretend like they’re upset at what they’re about to do. They’re not. In fact, they might be getting off on it. I know Elon Musk is.
Note the Republicans in favor of raising the SALT cap in blue states have zero problems with additional harsher cuts.
The bill is just going to get harsher for millions before it passes.
The Republicans in the end will realize that relative to their positions, passing anything is better than status quo. And passing anything means getting harsher, regardless of potential consequences in the 2026 midterm elections.
This is the complete opposite dynamic to Biden’s two big bills being relentlessly watered down by two US Senators. This bill is instead going to go to the extremes in the other direction.
And the fact they are fucking low income Americans isn’t even their problem with it.
You know they are all going to pass this bullshit. I think this is theatrics for thier home-base so they have something they can run on. Let’s hope the senate has the fight to filibuster this to forever

Realistically, what path forward does he have? Punt and let both sides dig in further? Push a vote and call their bluff? Push a vote and watch it fail?
And even if by some miracle he passes the bill, he then just had 200+ GOP representatives go on the record of cutting $1 trillion from Medicare and Medicaid.
And, it has no chance in the Senate..

Remember “The Grand Bargain” between Obama and Boehner? Boehner came out of the negotiations saying he got 98% of what he wanted and the Freedumb Caucus voted against it.

What nobody I’ve heard in congress in the US is properly addressing is that the US cannot hand out crazy tax cuts and another record Trump deficit-fest without getting keel-hauled into a possible death spiral of higher and higher interest on the national debt which is constantly rolling over at higher and higher rates.
The move to dictatorship and betrayal of alliances compounds this problem from a dull roar to a lurking assassin. Above all other factors, Trump tariffs hit a wall with this bond market issue and thus he has to water them down and exempt entire industries hollowing out his tariffs.
