I mean.. good. It’s the same as a company working in Quebec. If they want to make profits from Quebec, they should respect that difference.
Same with Canada. There should be canadian quotas for those giant that only seeks profits at the detriment of our local industry.
They should also pay taxes to Canada. I believe this is done but is challenged by those giants and the US government? Not sure about that though
The story is very light on details. So they want streaming platforms to prioritize French in their recommendations? If they require a certain portion to be French speaking then it would mean reducing other content instead. A country (like Canada or France) could maybe demand more specific content but they’re not going to make content just for 1 Canadian province. Maybe if some content from France isn’t available here they could add that, but that could really only easily apply to their own content and I’m not sure if they don’t already make that available.
…ok, I know little on how this works so, um, good luck, I guess. I hope it doesn’t just mean they hide content in Quebec to meet thresholds.
