No thanks to Republicans and MAGA, if it wasn’t for them we won’t be in this position

Funny how ‚fiscal responsibility‘ always flies out the window when it’s time to cut taxes for billionaires.

The billionaires don’t care as long as it makes them richer. If it doesn’t, there will be hell for the GOP to pay.

This is what “Fiscally conservative” Republican policy does. The wealthy are killing it. And now they will use their own mess to justify cuts to healthcare and education.

Clearly the credit rating agency hasn’t heard that when you cut taxes for rich people, they suddenly and finally have so much money that they’ll be forced to spend it all into the economy; and when that happens, the debt gets paid off somehow.

anyone notice that for many decades the republican party has been absolutely terrible at managing the economy?

We’ve been losing that perfect credit rating since the middle of Obama’s first term (there are multiple groups that do these ratings).

I mean yes and no. Straw that broke the camel’s back, but Moodys was pretty clear that it was both Democrat and Republican administrations who contributed to this. Trump and the GOP’s budget games definitely were the final straw though.

OP, they didn’t lose them over the tax credits. They lost them over Trump’s tax cuts, Trump’s deficit spending, and Trump’s general push towards economic instability.

I wish they would stop putting only Trumps name next to this but conservatism in general which needs to die

They aren’t even reporting the actual facts. The US didn’t have perfect credit in 2025.
– In August 2011, Standard and Poor’s downgraded the U.S. from AAA to AA+. The sitting president was Barrack Obama.
– In August 2023 Fitch Ratings cut the credit rating a notch from AAA to AA+. The sitting president was Joe Biden.
– Moody’s is the last of the three major credit rating agencies to downgrade U.S in May 2025. The sitting president was Donald Trump.
Both parties are fiscally irresponsible AF. The main difference is the Republicans pretend to care with symbolic bullshit like DOGE and debt ceiling fillibusters. The democrats just say „nya nya cant hear you, national debt isn’t real“.
All 3 credit agencies agree. It’s real, and it’s not sustainable. So the real question is when will the American people give a shit enough to support budget cuts?

I believe the current economic system is broken and corrupt, so I don’t know why anyone would be in favor of maintaining the status quo. Which means a declining credit rating is actually a good thing in the long run. If you are upset about the credit rating, it means you are in favor of the cutrent system, which is clearly designed to benefit the ultra wealthy. This isn’t to suggest that trump is out to help people. He’s just too dumb to realize how much damage he’s doing. And i am all for it.
This is exactly what the republicans working for Trump helped happen.

Then again, US debt.. but blame who’s currently in.

The US lost its credit rating because voters put Trump in charge again. There’s no clearer signal to the world that the US is financially unstable and untrustworthy.
Americans chose this.
