I find the push to pretend Tom Cruise is the last or ultimate movie star weird seen as he was pretty much struggling for a long time. Everyone seems to have forgotten that.
The thing is, those other actors are crushing actual acting. Tom Cruise doesn’t really act any more. Which is why he’s a movie start and those other actors are not.

I don’t think movie stars are dying, I think the industry is dying/being ruined by the executives. Like we used to get massive rom coms **yearly** and those were a huge success, but now? Most romcoms are straight to streaming and don’t get any buzz.
