      Absolutely terrible. They’re always travelling up on the pavements especially outside the post office, the speed they move is excruciating, and the sound and smell some of them make as they grumble along is just horrible. I realise a lot of them arn’t firing on all cylinders any more, and to be honest the idea of riding one at all is just foul to most people. If it was up to me, they’d all be off our streets once and for all.

      So glad they used motorcycle here. Far too many get confused by the use of the phrase e-bikes – these things, the likes of Surrons etc are just electrified scramblers and offroad bikers. A long way away from even dodgy overclocked electric bicycles. They are motorcycles in every sense – they have weight, power and speed.

      We have a real problem near me, with them screaming around at 30, 40, 50mph hopping around cars, up and down pavements etc and of course on all the local beauty spots, walking trails etc.

      At least with ICE bikes you could hear them coming a mile off

      I nearly got run over on Friday night by one going 20mph+ the wrong way down a one way street. I was literally millimetres way from being hit and likely would have been thrown into the path of a car.

      I’m all for electric bikes and scooters. I even hire scooters myself. But the amount of people who flout the laws is ridiculous. The police really need to find a way to crack down on people abusing their use.

      The police are reactive nowadays. You can get away with so much shit these days as long as you don’t cause too much trouble.

      A 72 year old lady has died in a similar incident in Bradford. 17 year old arrested and released on bail.

      I live very close to this road, the dirtbike and quadbike dickheads are often found bombing about here, it’s been like this for decades. There are quite a few fields that separate Sunderland / Ryhope / Doxford / Silksworth, which they treat it like their own personal play space. It got to the point that they had ruined Ryhope Golf course, which ended up closing.

      Don’t get me started on Hope Road and Burdon Lane, in which everyone seems to think they’re Colin McRae on those roads.
