So when a woman experiences the trauma of a still birth or miscarriage she will also have to go through the trauma of being treated like a criminal and subjected to a police investigation…
There’s no way in the world that this could end badly. None whatsoever.
I hope they’ve managed to solve every other crime. You know the rapes that have a less than 2% conviction rate. All the domestic violence people suffer through, the murders, the armed robberies, the violent assaults, etc, because this is a ridiculous waste of police time and money.
ETA- I meant charge rate of rape cases, which was 2.6% last year, different to convictions.
It’s always really telling that whenever you try and converse with an anti-abortionist about their views they can never hold an actual conversation and not divert from the point and change the definitions of words to fit their argument. It’s almost as if they hold an indefensible point.

Saying that a medical treatment that the government literally pays for people to have isn’t illegal? Bro it’s not just legal, the government will pick up the bill.

Perhaps, that’s a reasonable point, but when the government won’t just let you do something but will actually pay for you to do it, it’s a stretch to call it illegal.
So the NHS won’t investigate miscarriages until you’ve had 3, but the police could get involved from the first one if they ’suspect‘ it didnt occur naturally?

If our first reaction to a woman who has experienced pregnancy loss is not compassion and medical support we are lost as a country.
My view is that the police should only investigate where they have reasonable grounds for suspicion (i.e. probable cause for any Americans reading). If they are not confident that a court will agree that they do then they are probably overstepping. Creating guidance which throws immediate suspicion on any woman who suffers pregnancy loss is heavy handed and fundamentally against the principal of civil liberty. This is not policing by consent.
Unpopular opinion: well yeah. There has to be some limit before which it is abortion and after which it is infanticide. I’m very relaxed about where that limit is (it should be as late as reasonably possible). But can anyone argue it should be 9months? Because if not you have to support this no?
It’s almost like people were warning that scapegoating one minority would just lead to a domino effect…

Have they not considered that women having illegal abortions might be those who are particularly vulnerable – victims of trafficking, abuse, coercion, etc.?
Punishing women who are already victims does not seem like the best use of police time/resources. They need help and justice.
And then of course there’s the impact this may have on women who have been through the trauma of miscarrying very wanted babies (I unfortunately know that pain and grief very well), which is utterly abhorrent.
We live in really unsettling times.

As a man who’s wife had two miscarriages, I’m glad they did not try to search our house and accuse my wife of anything!
So not only a woman had to due with the physical and mental pain of a miscarriage or stillbirth, she will also had to be investigated, searched, strangers in their home and looking through their computer and phone
