    1. Unless we also elect a congress willing to help it doesn’t matter who the president is. Bernie as president would have hd a hostile congress no matter who was in charge there

    2. For the workers yes but not for the ones bribeig aka „lobbying“ the GOP and democrats. There is a reason none of them is willing to speak of raising the taxes for the top.

The DNC (and the Clinton machine) made sure you did not have that choice. And then Bernie sanders fell in line with democratic handlers and the party still lost to the worst candidate in modern history. And democrats are so feckless they lost Trump again 8 years later. Pathetic.

Politics in the US hasn’t been about left vs right for a long time now; it’s strictly rich vs poor. Bernie is one of the few that truly gives a shit about the poor.

Unfortunately, this article STILL misses one fundamental part of our political equation, the Republicans are not good faith partners. They are a gang of shameless classic terrorists that have zero issues in being toxic and hypocritical to the country. Grievance is their only operating function to getting power. Don’t get me wrong, I would have loved to have seen Bernie, or anyone else win in 2016, but with everything Bernie wanted to do, I don’t think we would have seen the systemic change this article implies could or would have happened. The GOP would have held the country even more hostage and the Dems won’t turncoat on their donors.

Joe Biden wasn’t picked as the DNC’s nominee because he could beat Trump. He was picked so he could beat Sanders.

    7. (Sorry not sorry?) I’ll elect him half in the grave with a good VP. Trump has shown what can be broken in 3 months, imagine what Bernie would push through in 3.

      He has never stopped working.

He’s had a lot of chances. He’s never been popular enough. And then his supporters always say it’s because the system is rigged. But he maxed out and he doesn’t have enough broad support among Americans.

How about we elect someone who isn’t 85 and who is actually invested in their own policies, because they’ll have to live with the outcomes of them once their term is over?

The democratic party has been doing a bad job picking the wrong candidates for a while. Pick a more populist candidate that actually knows what its like to be an average American.

    11. Bernie stands head and shoulders above all the other potential candidates.

He’s good because he genuinely cares about ordinary people and has that super power that allows him to immediately see right through the bullshit offered by his opponents.

The DNC rigged the primaries against Bernie sanders twice, America didn’t choose wrong , they got fucked

    13. Bernie is one of the few politicians I have a measure of trust for. It might be misplaced of course, but he’s shown decades of fighting for causes he believes in even in the face of all the shit thrown at him. He has my respect

    14. I feel strongly that Sanders beats Trump in 2016. The DNC is why democracts lose.

Why even waste the effort writing such an article about what could’ve been nearly a decade ago?

It would’ve been awesome had Al Gore won in ‘00. That would’ve reduced the chances of an Iraq invasion to near zero.

    17. Bernie would have accomplished almost nothing as his own Congress wouldn’t have supported him even when they had the majority. He wouldn’t have crapped on the constitution and tried to do all kinds of illegal acts with executive orders like Trump has done either. Net result would have been not a lot accomplished. The fact it would have been replacing Trump is a huge positive but that is true of anyone that ran from either party.

    18. Zazen_Satori_Gaming on

To be fair, a dim-witted, inbred cocker spaniel would have made a better president than Trump.

    19. Bernie is old news. I appreciate what he’s doing and I admire his lifetime of service, even though he has no significant legislative accomplishments in his long career. I agree with a lot of his positions. But there is absolutely no reason to discuss „Bernie“ and „president“ in the same sentence without cutting into old wounds. It’s time to let 2016 and 2020 be the past.
