I notice he doesn’t want the US consumers to pay less; he just wants everyone else to pay a lot more. The lie they tell their people is that the US citizens have to pay more because they subsidize research and not that they’re being taken advantage of.

I’ve heard somewhere that US drug companies said it would effect their bottom line too much. So this likely will fail like most of his other efforts. It’s not like there’s no choices in terms of drug manufacturing.

    3. I doubt it.

The Canadian government, through the Pan-Canadian pharmaceutical alliance, purchases almost 50% of all drugs sold in Canada. It’s one of the largest purchasers of drugs in the world. This centralized approach means they not only have a lot of bargaining power, but it makes the selling costs much lower for drug companies, risk of non payment is 0, paid on time in cash, large volume, long contracts, very predictable, and they can also purchase in mass packs, like a pallet of raw form drugs or 1,000 pill bottles rather than 10 pill blisters.

It’s highly fragmented in the Us, they buy a lot of drugs, but it’s a ton of small customers, which is more expensive to sell to and riskier.
