The two fatal mistakes he made during and before the election campaign was waiting months to come out against trump’s tariffs and not distancing him and his party away from trump like rhetoric. Those things cost the CPC a chance of forming government and him becoming PM likely forever. I don’t think he will pull a harper at this point because this isn’t 2004 anymore(social media is more prominent now) and his past will continue to haunt him. Carney will also be a fine PM even if alberta and to a lesser extent saskatchewan never like him.
