    1. Another one! We really need to look long and hard at the recruitment, vetting and standards of the people we are employing to be prison officers.

    2. A female prison officer doing this sort of this doesn’t shock me as much as the type of convict she chose.

Out of all the people why would she choose a rapist to have a baby with?
Also what happened to her spine how come she’s in a wheelchair?

Had sex 40 times with a prisoner – I’m amazed the judge suspended the sentence..

Her being ‚wheel chair bound‘ now doesn’t lessen the crimes or the reputational damage to the justice system.

She just sounds hopelessly naive and ‚daft‘ however this isn’t a defense or mitigation.

There obviously should be very clear boundaries between PO ’s and prisoners and accountability for any in a ‚public office‘.

This sends completely the wrong message. I don’t know if suspended sentences can reviewed as unduly lenient however this probably should be.

I think we’re seeing a pattern here much like you would see how abusers try and get jobs in care. Slightly unhinged types who have a thing for the bad boys will try and get into a role where it gets them in close proximity to their target audience . I don’t know why anyone is acting shocked by this.

    6. In the past 30 years being a prison officer has gone from being a fairly strong career choice with good pay opportunities, to being a borderline minimum wage role which struggles to recruit anyone. This leads to the wrong people getting onboarded out of desperation by HMPPS, as was clearly the case here.

I’m confident that there is a subcategory of women who are just attracted to nut jobs.
Like why? What’s the attraction to a kiddie fiddling rapist? I don’t understand the logic.

Of course she does it’s okay for women to do this but if it was a man another story.

She should have been charged with rape but the legal system and feminists don’t want that

Wow. It’s almost as if women shouldn’t be working in men’s prisons?

How many such incidents do we need to have in order to stop hiring women to work in male prisons? Seriously? Do we need to have a netflix series about it first?

    12. I think this shows you that people are completely crazy, we’re all better off alone, and this is a prime example why.

…and the guy got another 2+ years for engaging in consensual sex while incarcerated? I would say the punishment is a bit heavy handed

How about not having women prison officers in men’s jails?

Like we did for a thousand years before….

A male prison officer fucking a female prisoner would go to jail every, single, time.

I’d be a prison officer but they need to give them more powers to sort the inmates out right now you should coddle them and let them beat you up.

I’m scratching my head as to when it became sensible to employ opposite sex to population in that environment – physical risk alone makes it madness but then there’s corrupt approaches & issues of honey trapping plus intimidation into sexual favours or outright looking for it by both parties. Mental!

Who does the prison staff employment sector appeal to anymore?

Inmates openly assault officers with impunity and no meaningful action is taken to safeguard these officers or punish offending inmates.

Either those desperate for the pay or those who want things similar to this woman are those remaining to look for and accept work in conditions like this.
Years ago trouble making inmates used to get hurt worse than staff, nowadays it’s the opposite.

That’s one hell of a headline to be honest. It gives a lot to unpack. Who was the victim here? Seemingly it was consensual between the two so why is it news? (Other than how the fuck is the standards for prison officers so low)

In fact sod it. That’s enough internet for one day.

    20. Well it doesn’t take a genius to figure that women in a male prison and men in a female prison are going to be at it

    21. „She was given a written warning in 2020 for concerns over her professionalism and interaction with prisoners.

Her probationary period was extended because she was suspected of having an inappropriate relationship with two prisoners.“

It does seem that they’re desperate to hang on to staff at all costs.

This is everything wrong with equality in some circumstances. Woman shouldn’t be allowed to work in men’s correction facilities & Men shouldn’t work in women’s.. bring back basic norms or “Make normal the default position again”
