Alls fair….
The incumbent had been mayor since 2013. She’s recently done things that have made Omahans mad (I.E streetcar project that was clearly put in for Mutual of Omaha, extremely delayed project where an old shopping mall was) I think the nail in the coffin was her doing the trans people are scary and Ewing will allow them in your bathroom commercials.

The republican incumbent Jean Stothert won previously in 2021 R+30, 2017 R+5, and 2013 R+15 – massive change for the city of Omaha aka the blue dot in the presidential elections as of recently.
But wait, isn’t it obvious thousands of illegal votes were cast by gang-affiliated aliens???

She turned to transphobic shit. I know this is crazy for Democrats, but the Democrat won while not doing their one true obsession – unilateral disarmament.
Hopefully, this causes Rep. Don Bacon to consider his votes more rather than just follow the Republican lead.
Amazing how not turning on a disenfranchised minority can get you votes as a Democrat!
Side note and rant. Why is there a general election happening in May?
This is why voter turnout is so low because we literally have elections all the time. I get that states, localities, and the federal government all set their own election dates but come on.
For example, I live in Ohio and since November 2024 we have had a general election this May containing a ballot measure, a special election held this August, and another general election to hold in November to elect city officials.
Also, in Virginia, they have elections and primaries every single year for a variety of candidates. And why does Wisconsin elect judges in April?
Like can we just get on somewhat of the same schedule?
People would actually participate more in our democracy if we had one set day.
