This is a man who was pulled from tv because of his selling of art to politicians was too close to influence peddling to remain a credible journalist. Now he’s in cabinet. i hate this country

I’m scratching my head about this one. I didn’t know he run and won Toronto centre. It’s interesting that almost every MP here becomes a Cabinet Minister.

Here’s another article citing Solomon’s interest in AI during his campaign:

      > During a candidates‘ debate in Toronto Centre, Solomon said regulating AI “is the singular most difficult technological challenge” facing governments today, and that the emerging technology presents “great opportunities and great risks.” He stressed the need for Canada to invest in AI in order to “not get left behind,” but that AI development must be done “responsibly.” With the advent of ChatGPT and other generative AI technologies, experts and advocates have raised concerns about job automation, the use of AI in warfare and how reliance on AI may be affecting social connections and critical thinking. https://www.torontotoday.ca/local/politics-government/evan-solomon-toronto-centre-rookie-named-minister-of-ai-and-digital-innovation-10652767

    3. Disappointing that the focus seems to be mostly on the positive side of the economic scale. I would have liked to see something more about how to mitigate the expected impact on employment, and ethical implications in general.
