At this point, moving him out just to move him back in would be a waste of time, effort and taxpayer dollars
Poilievre wants to stay, Carney is fine with him staying, and the official opposition is fine with him staying. It’s a non-issue
That makes sense to me. It would be unnecessarily expensive and pettily cruel to force the family to move out, find a new place, move any and all possessions, and then move them back in at the tail end of a school year, no less. This is especially true for Valentina. We shouldn’t be pushing big disruptions in the life of a non-verbal autistic child just because of a technicality or some of us don’t like her dad.
And while some may say that Poilievre would absolutely be that petty if it was someone else… well, maybe. But even if that were true, that doesn’t mean any of the rest of us should preemptively stoop to that level.
I sorta get it, but it’s a bad look and reinforces the „career politician“ narrative.
Move back to the house in Carleton or a short-term rental in the riding he’s now running in.
Maybe hold off on the moving boxes and costs, but definitely vacate the property.
Agreed with all the takes here so far with respect to letting him stay in Stornoway – there’s no benefit and unnecessary cruel to have him move out and then move back in (and above all as unnecessary an expense to taxpayers that I can think of)
I despise PP as much as the next Carleton riding voter but I’m fine with this. There’s not only the unnecessary costs of a symbolic move, but also living in another residence in his old house or the new riding would probably lead to a lot of extra security costs. Stornoway is already all set up for that.
Criticize all you want but most likely this is to help the Poilievre family’s kids stay at the same school. upending children during the middle of the school right is incredibly distributive and traumatic.
