Not that Mr. failed to get rid of FPTP is out, I can probably vote for the Liberals again.
We’ll see.
I was pretty sure a PC could win in Canada in this last election and I had an inkling that that’s what we actually elected. This article seems to support that idea.

The conservatives I know think he is a liberal like Cretien, which they can live with. The liberals I know think he is a conservative like Joe Clark, which they can live with. Far left and far right types both think he’ll destroy everything.
This seems like a strong foundation to be grudgingly accepted by reasonable folks on both sides and detested by both extremes.

Oh he’s definitely not a „leftie“. His policy suggestions are very conservative but what makes him look progressive is the fact that he isn’t yelling about „wokeness“ and he is concerned about the environment. The issue is that the federal PC’s have veered so much to the right that a man with conservative fiscal policies looks like a socialist.

Carney knows how the world actually works and does not subscribe to radicalism, far-left or far-right ideology. That is a win.

On the surface that sounds like a contradiction, but it really just means „sensible person.“ Back in the day, before identity politics, we largely had governments (either the old PC party or the Liberals) that were sensible and you got the sense that they were actually trying to do the right thing vs. now where they just divide people into the „woke“ or „racist“ teams. The sad thing is, that actually works, and distracts everyone from the real issues.
