The United States will temporarily slash tariffs on Chinese imports back to 30% from 145% in return for the promise of talks on the future of the two countries’ trade relationship, negotiators said on Monday.
The Chinese side in return will cut its retaliatory tariffs on US goods to 10 per cent from 125%, Scott Bessent, the US treasury secretary, and the Chinese commerce ministry said in simultaneous statements

With that said, if both sides are now engaging in a good faith negotiation, something good may come out of it.

China on the other hand, had a dry run of how the sanctions will be like if they took Taiwan. the last major card the us has to deter china is gone.
