Trump and his minions, like RFK Jr., don’t give a flying fuck if their ineptitude and ignorance wind up in the rest of us (including their MAGA base) getting sick and dying (that was made very clear during Covid).

The MAHA movement is based in letting diseases run their course, conventional medicine has been corrupted by „big pharma,“ and everything can be bettered through supplements, exercise and diet. Accept this is their reality and it’s reflected in countless influencers peddling these beliefs. There is no number for number of cases that will make them deviate from these beliefs. They’re gone. At this point, we actually need some disease to just run rampant to change enough hearts and minds so we can get back to some level of sanity.
Once upon a time, what RFK Jr. is spewing was just not nut-job at the corner bar. Now, with social media and YouTube, it’s amplified, professionalized, and there is a stunning amount of money to be made. On so many fronts, we’re into crazy territory. The only way out, in my opinion, is through.

He is taking it seriously, he just believes that the proper way to deal with disease is to let it run its course and cull the herd. Which is really fucking stupid, but that’s how he thinks. He also believes „natural“ immunity from getting a disease and surviving it is better than vaccine immunity. The problem with that specifically with the measles is that, while you do get a lifetime immunity to the measles, the measles virus also basically wipes out your immune system’s memory for other viruses, leaving you more vulnerable to other diseases.
It’s wild that we’re even having this conversation in 2024. Measles was almost gone here and now it’s back because some people refuse to take vaccines seriously. RFK Jr. just ignores all the science and keeps spreading the same talking points. It’s not complicated, vaccines work and save lives
