He’s not right about everything but a lot of Americans are sexist.
Racist too.
„I was disappointed but not surprised,“ Biden said. He went on to suggest sexism and racism played a role in her defeat: „They went the sexist route.“
„I’ve never seen quite as successful and consistent campaign undercutting the notion that a woman couldn’t lead the country, and a woman of mixed race,“ he said.
Actually Kamala peaked in popularity soon after she was nominated and picked Tim. If the election was held right then she probably would have won. So Joe didn’t get out too late, he got out too soon. Hahaha. Just as good as any of the other theories about why someone lost by 1 1/2%. Thousands of years of sexism? Definitely.
Americans are even more sexist than they are racist. We elected a Black man before we elected a woman. And anyone who watched election coverage in the weeks leading up to November of 2024 saw plenty of swing state voters — including POC — openly tell journalists that they wouldn’t vote for a woman president. Honestly in retrospect Dems were cooked in 2023 when Biden said he was running for a second term instead of simply claiming victory over Trump and Covid and riding off into the sunset. Had Kamala had to compete in a real 50-state primary I don’t think she would have been the nominee
Too many people in this country think a woman couldn’t handle the responsibilities of the POTUS because we’re „too emotional“, yet we’re being dragged along by a stupid, malignant, lazy, narcissistic neanderthal who unabashedly shits himself, and has no idea how to oversee a country, with the blessing of a corrupt congress and SCrOTUS.
If he foresaw this possibility, it now seems absolutely foolish for him to have anointed her to be his replacement, especially given how high the stakes were. Biden’s judgment just looks worse and worse.
Come on Joe, Hillary got more votes than Trump! Hillary! There’s more to it than sexism
I’d be more impressed if he had the self-reflection to realize that he held a great deal of responsibility for the loss by trying to hang on for a second term rather than getting the hell out of the way for a legitimate primary.
I’m sorry but who endorsed her again?
We also don’t appreciate being told who’s going to be the next president without a primary. Nor do we appreciate Biden telling us he would step down after 4 years then not holding up that end of the bargain – the DNC has a bad habit of supporting „My turn“ candidates (Hillary over Bernie, Biden over a bunch of perfectly good options INCLUDING Kamala), and eventually Biden over campaigning hard for Kamala 2 years ahead of time. The DNC gave us 6 weeks to rally around someone we didn’t get to choose and we’re living in the result.
I think the main thing that doomed Democrats in 2024 was that Biden decided to run in the first place. He should have been a transitional President, like he promised in 2020. It would have been hard before that June debate, but I think that one moment really sealed the deal, regardless of what else happened.
Blaming the voters is a losing strategy.
Yup. Mexico elected a woman president last year. We…didn’t.
She lost because of you, jack
the day after Obama won there is a good portion of American society that made a vow to make sure nothing like that ever happened again
Picking Garland and not taking the felon seriously or the severity of what they did is what is fucking us now
I’m gonna push back a bit.
Yes, there are people in America who are racist and sexist. Also, water is wet.
But FFS, Kamala decided to not talk about the policies that were progressive in nature (price caps, $5K child tax credit) not too long after she announced them. In addition, she got scared of Tim Walz’s popularity once he became a darling for rightly calling Republicans / MAGA “weird.” Sadly, she was afraid of him outshining her due one reason or another, and Walz wasn’t leveraged as effectively as he could have been.
In my view, Kamala definitely got a great boost out the gate, and would have won if the election were held after the first debate. But hell, did Biden ever drag her down.
Democrats try to learn something from an election CHALLENGE IMPOSSIBLE
Hillary won the popular vote by quite a bit in 2016.
I’m so fucking annoyed about the consistent effort of establishment Dems to paint this loss as a result of running a woman of color and not a deeply unpopular centrist who wouldn’t separate from the existing party structure.
It’s so frustrating to see a party that has consistently and constantly lost ground in every area of the country to grasp at straws for why their candidates aren’t winning instead of just acknowledging the fact that they aren’t governing effectively enough for the people that vote for them.
But instead they’ll just put up another old ass white dude because they think America can’t take anything else and then be shocked when they lose again because they can’t actually offer a vision of the future that appeals to anyone.
I see you moderates are still asking, „What Happened?“ Nuts.
Bigoted is the term he should have used. Some are racist. Some are sexist. Some are both racist and sexiest.
*and racist.
Trying to down play Harris’ qualification as VP to run for President not only because she’s a woman but claiming she’s a DEI (which Women are also considered to be included in DEI, along with disability, veterans, etc). A majority of republicans just immediately see a woman and race, instead of her qualifications.
And racist as FK.
