As someone that works for a company putting high speed internet into rural areas that voted primarily for this idiot…Ok boys, lets rip out that fiber. These hillbillies don’t need internet I guess. /s
Dumbfuck doesn’t realize that this high speed internet initiative is ALSO INTENDED TO UPGRADE RURAL F’ING AMERICA where telecom companies don’t want to spend their money building infrastructure to serve the rural folks with a lower ROI. Those are *his* voters.

I once saw a cartoon – I wish I could find it again, but here’s the gist of it:
* Black boy and White boy both want to get up on top of a wall

I think of this often when I hear about Don’s crusade against equity.
However – this current situation is even weirder, because he’s saying the quiet part out loud! The act says nothing about race, but here’s Trump equating ‚poor‘ with race.

Behind Trump’s word salad is hidden the fact that the rich and powerful really are scared of free flow of information. First they went for education, now the internet, and Wikipedia is under attack on a daily basis.
Lemme guess: He saw the word „equity“ and equated it with DEI, which in his mind is „racist“, so it’s gotta go. Is that the extent of his thinking?
Anything with the word equity is now demonized.
It’s fucking evil how these people get away with destroying support programs and funds designed to help those in need or poverty… all because their supporters devour the narrative that „This is to help minorities!“
This administration can take food from their mouths, dollars from their wallets, and every comfort from their lives… so long as there is a claim that it also hurts a non-white person to do it.

The GOP wants their own rural voters to suffer, as long as they can make life hard for poor Black people too. People need internet to do everything today – job applications. Accessing social security. Banking. Medical visits via telehealth. Plus education. You cannot get thru even k-12 without internet.
Trump and the gop are intentionally making life worse for the bottom 90%. Factory and ag jobs for everyone, and everyone’s children, and their grandchildren. No healthcare. No home ownership. No safety. No living wage. No retirement. Just laboring in drudgery until death – which will be premature due to lack of pollution control, lack of food safety inspections, lack of workplace protections, and lack of healthcare.
Okay, again to point out, the President is not supposed to have the power to terminate laws he doesn’t like. That’s not how this is supposed to work.

Poor and rural citizens of Canada get (10-20 mbps) broadband for $10-$20 (CAD) a month.
They also get true high speed fiber to the router (3-8 gigabit down and upload speeds, homes and apartments) for half the price of shitty US cable (2 gigabit down, 30 *megabit* up) providers. Oh, and their providers complete in the same areas. No regional monopolies like the US has.
Americans are getting screwed every single day in every single way.
