Expect to see at least one polarizing character booted .
Carney is most likely going to piss off some ndp voters pretty quick .

Is there a presser afterwards?
It’s the biggest post election/post Trump meeting event that’s on the docket for the liberals so far.

Freeland and Guillbeault both need to go, they are both very polarizing people and Carney needs to make sure the general public sees more completely new people
Finance is going to be an interesting one, whoever it is will definitely be a figurehead with Carney doing most of the big decision making in that portfolio. I suspect Hodgson would be the only one to get granted significant autonomy

I’m interested in how many people stay on. I feel like Dominic Leblanc is a sure thing to stick around in cabinet, but the others I’m not so sure.
I’m specifically interested in Melanie Joly and what happens to her. She’s been a star the last couple months, but I think it was Chantal Hebert who said she was on rocky ground at the end of the Trudeau government.

Wouldn’t mind seeing Joly back as Foreign Minister considering she’s been rock solid dealing with the US so far.
Anand also feels like a big Carney person. Quiet and competent. Wouldn’t be shocked to see her in Housing or back at Defence.

He should form a coalition with May and the remaining NDP. I’ll say it till I die. Give an NDP Minister of Labour, give Elizabeth May Minister of Environment.

It will be quite a difficult process to form this cabinet, given that Carney promised to keep gender parity. The only MP from Saskatchewan is male, Corey Hogan is almost guaranteed cabinet, Gregor Robertson doesn’t seem like he came to just be a backbencher, and the business executive types out east are all male, and also don’t seem like they’re going to just be backbenchers. He’s either going to have to greatly expand cabinet, or axe a fair amount of Trudeau era people.
My biggest worry is that Sean Fraser will be back in cabinet, but perhaps these parity concerns will keep him out. Every file he touched ended up being a total disaster.
