So the trade deal was just a trade deal. Nothing historic nor impressive. 🫠
As long as retail or small institutional investors are happy and will invest in the UK due to good optics, we can grow a bit.
But it’s a nothing burger compared to how super duper awesome it was going to be. And honestly the reply from Trump on truth social about the deal makes me feel personally humiliated as a British person…
That’s seems like a lot, over 400million per plane?
How long to recoup that outlay?

Hopefully it means they don’t have to borrow one off Finnair and ‘lose’ it again, delaying a flight to Helsinki by 4 hours whilst trying to locate it at Heathrow 🤣
Airbus is sold out until 2030. Boeing is facing cancellations from China, KLM and Quantos so they have stock available immediately (and probably at a huge discount).
This is a disgrace. There are Airbus aeroplanes literally being built in the UK and BA is buying American. The government should be raking them over the coals for this.
Edit: I’m wondering if this deal might have been struck as part of an effort to get the US/UK deal over the line. In which case, I guess that’s not a bad trade off all things considering. So maybe I retract my comment that it’s a disgrace.
I’ve been thinking about it a bit more and my best guess is that this must have been agreed as part of the terms of the US/UK trade deal. Since Airbus is doing so well it’s not the worst concession in the world, actually, if that’s the case.
Is strange that the UK gov would have wanted this to come out of the trade deal when we have an interest in Airbus
This sucks. I fly Heathrow to Toronto and always pick BA over Air Canada because of their Airbus fleet. Now both competitors fly death traps

The government is probably quite pleased.
Buying a bunch of Boeing stuff is part of what sealed the trade agreement deal which the government wanted as a win for them.
Whether it actually is what’s best for the country is a other matter.
