Although it’s a out Pierre Poilievre and Damien Jurek but it’s more an interesting article about MP salaries.
I was actually surprised to learn that MPs get severance.
I think the transition allowance and career counselling is good and important actually but I don’t think they ought to get severance for losing an election.
Voters will and assessment should be enough ‚for cause‘ for essentially a term position and there is no other assessor of work quality.
If it’s based on a vote, there shouldn’t be severance pay. If dude gives up his job as MP there shouldn’t be severance pay. Aren’t these people supposed to be against hand-outs????
