      Been such a roller coaster ride of the UK will never have a trade deal with the US. Then we were going to be waiting a while because others were more important. A US trade deal would make it impossible to have one with the EU.

      Now in the position of having a deal with the US, that leaves room for a significant deal with the EU.

      Still details to be arranged on the US deal but the doomerism shown to be just that.

      Now is the time for labour to get on the Comms. Various people and media set this situation up as being close to impossible and yet here we are.

      Thanks to Trump and his tariffs we’ve become a lot more attractive. He’s also used us to show the rest of the world he’s willing to make new trade deals. Now hopefully we can get a new trade deal with the EU before the US announces other trade deals that could change the landscape.

      This is a win-win for both sides.

      Trump gets to go on Fox News to say how good a trade deal he got. While we win on actual important things to businesses, while protecting our own interests.

      We are lucky due to the situation in some ways. Trump created this tariff war on the hope that the EU and China would come begging for a deal, which they didn’t. Now he has to sign any deal to save face. But regardless, the Government has played its hand very well indeed.

      I’m now waiting for Reform to claim the biggest benefit of Brexit has been allowing us to do our own deal with the EU.
