This guy is 80.. he won’t last forever. America may have a Death of Stalin moment coming up on their horizon, but their inability to contain this emerging fascism will forever tarnish the Republic, if there even is a Republic.
It’s like when Ford and Ontario police took a knee and let the seditious Qonvoy siege Ottawa. Now in the US, the supreme court is compromised, while congress is taking a knee, and letting similar extremists siege the US government from the inside, disrupting critical institutions, endangering national security, looting the treasury, betraying allies, and ending the US’s position as leader of the free world.
It would take decades of Obamas to correct public opinion on this, because now the assumption is the next trump is always around the corner.
He’s old. We just want to delay things as much as possible. Time is on our side. What he’s doing is going to be devastating to US business interests and workers. Let that damage set in, and they make take care of this problem for us. There’s going to be millions more angry, unemployed, young males there by the end of the year. It’s a powder keg.
Cutting a fast deal just strengthens his position, and he’s already shown he won’t keep his word or negotiate in good faith. Wait him out. Build new relationships. Time is on our side.

Based on the Carney meeting, I actually think Trump was doing it out of personal animosity with Trudeau, there’s no serious or grand strategy here
If we’re really going to redraw the border, Maine should definitely be in Canada. Makes no sense that it’s in the U.S.
Some minor border adjustments to make the 49th Parallel less annoyingly straight. Swap the lands south of the Milk River /North Milk River for the Fraser Lowlands and Point Roberts. Both would be in the ballpark of 4000 sq km or 1500 sq miles.
