    1. If this is correct it once again underscores the point that Labour is not interested in getting more disabled people into work, they will cut the benefits that people rely on while claiming that they are assisting more disabled people into work, yet they will then cut the support schemes that they rely on to do their jobs.
I don’t think it’s particularly controversial to suggest that in a choice between two employees, one of whom will require significant additional costs, businesses will pick the one who doesn’t and the access to work scheme was designed to mitigate that but if it’s cut to the bone as the article suggests, businesses will be very wary of hiring physically and mentally disabled people.

So, they’re going to cut benefits to get people back into work, and cut schemes aimed at people getting on benefits back into work… hmm.

It’s crazy how there’s now an INCENTIVE to become more sick, what the hell is going on?

    4. I applied for Access to Work last July on the suggestion of my occupational health advisor via my workplace due to health issues. I had a call a few weeks ago almost 1 year later and the advisor promptly dismissed my claim stating that as I could technically get to work, albeit difficult I “could” get a taxi which costs £40 each way the cost was immaterial- that technically it was possible so there was no support for me whereas looking at ADHD forums online people have managed to get laptops, digital notebooks, headphones and all sorts of things by claiming they have anxiety or ADHD. I’m sure there are genuine issues that people have but this seems to be a system which is arbitrary and doesn’t seem to want to help people that genuinely want to work or need to get to work but rather favours those that know how to game the system. I saw a lot of posts on these forums about claiming that you are self employed and then having taxi fares or business expenses paid via Access to Work

I can’t see this as anything other than an attempt to remove disabled people from the workplace.
