Rolls-Royce shares climbed 4% higher after the aerospace engine maker was included in the US-UK trade deal.
US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick said he has „allowed Rolls-Royce engines and plane parts to come over tariff-free“.
US President Donald Trump and UK Prime Minister announced some headline details about the framework of a trade deal, which the two countries agreed this week.
Starmer said the US-UK trade will boost trade and create jobs, calling the agreement „a fantastic platform“ and „hugely important“ for the automotive and steel industries in the UK.
Trump said the UK trade deal is „good for both countries“ and will bring the UK back into “economic security alignment” with the US.
The US and UK have agreed to “work together on steel”, he said, with the deal increasing access for US beef and ethanol.
The UK will eliminate non-tariff trade barriers, he says, with US goods to “move fast” through customs.
Final details of the deal are being written up in the coming weeks, he said.

So most others goods would still be subjected to 10% tariffs?
Making jet engines is very difficult. Rolls Royce makes the engines for both Boeing and Airbus.

I switched away from US investments to European defence stocks post Trump inauguration and I’m kind of fuming I invested mostly into RR (which to be fair has risen 20%) while I watched my much more modest investment in Rheinmetall explode by another 74%
They’ve probably just realised that they’ve started to use Rolls Royce engines on the B52.
Great news for the uk – they’ve got factories all over the uk. hopefully boeing are more likely to put these on their planes
