Why waste perfectly good art on someone who is so stunted and lacking in the capacity to feel anything other than a handful of the very worst traits of humanity?

I suppose the cast could perform for him, but to be honest. . . He wouldn’t get it anyway.

And yet the significance of this action and how it relates to the story of „Les Misérables“ will be lost on Trump. Which I kind of love! Let’s go cast members!

      >Grenell said in a strongly worded statement that he was not aware of the boycott and that any performer “who isn’t professional enough to perform for patrons of all backgrounds, regardless of political affiliation, won’t be welcomed.”

      >“In fact, we think it would be important to out those vapid and intolerant artists to ensure producers know who they shouldn’t hire — and that the public knows which shows have political litmus tests to sit in the audience,” he said. “The Kennedy Center wants to be a place where people of all political stripes sit next to each other and never ask who someone voted for but instead enjoys a performance together.”

These fucking people. using language of tolerance to gaslight people is sickening. Whether here or any other person trying to shame others for not being tolerant of their „political beliefs“, it isn’t a political issue it is a morality issue.

The tolerant do not need to be tolerant of the intolerant. when Elon said that people take advantage of the west’s empathy and that is why it is a weakness, he was projecting, like they all do.

I’m surprised he likes Les Mis, figured it would be “too woke” for someone like him

    7. Fake news. Not true. The oval office gatekeepers let him know that the entire cast came down with larengytis.

    8. Trump: I love Les Miserables

Cast: You’re more of an example of misery than the play. Non.

    9. Gallifrey4637 on

He won’t hear the people sing… because he refuses to hear the real Song of the People.

The only performers Trump can get are the ones sitting in Republican seats for power grabs and get-rich quick schemes.

I have a theory on why this may be his favorite musical

The only song he ever heard from it is „Master of the House“

What about the right to ’not serve‘ patrons? Didn’t the courts re affirm that shop owners are not required to serve anyone who come into their shop. Wouldn’t that law also apply?

PS When the fat Orange ‚Il Duce‘ took over Kennedy Center and put himself at the head of it all…It illustrated AGAIN that Drumpf cannot see past his own actions.

A malignant narcissist never expects others to dare resist, or fight back. He never see’s past his nose.

    13. phillygirllovesbagel on

I truly wish everyone would refuse to perform at the Kennedy Center.

    14. The audacity to say that these performers are bigots for not wanting to perform for Nazis. This administration is a caricature from Austin Powers.

„Intolerant „… says the people that cannot accept gay marriage, trans, immigrants, equal rights, minorities, religion, freedom of speech, right to choose, etc.

      As a professional performing musician:

      > “In fact, we think it would be important to out those vapid and intolerant artists to ensure producers know who they shouldn’t hire — and that the public knows which shows have political litmus tests to sit in the audience,” he said.

Agreed! But he has the anticipated effects exactly backwards.

      > “The Kennedy Center wants to be a place where people of all political stripes sit next to each other and never ask who someone voted for but instead enjoys a performance together.”

Tell me you don’t understand the first thing about music history without telling me. Western music and politics have been intertwined for centuries. What a small understanding of music he has.

Good for them. Peaceful protest is the time honored standard of opposition. Its a shame there are people like Grenell who cares more about perception than reality.

    18. im_not_bovvered on

This administration is actively gutting the arts right now, dismantling programs that benefit things like theatre, and are targeting the rights of a ton of people who make up the cast and crew. They’ve already declared people on „the left“ (newsflash – that’s the majority of this industry) to be the enemy. They hate unions (guess what, this is an Equity tour) and don’t even want people to be able to perform under the conditions of this show, which is under union protections.

Why would anyone willingly perform for him like a trained animal? Fuck that.

    19. NeedAVeganDinner on

Trump attending Les Mis is… wow. yeah i wouldn’t sing for him either.

    20. So the cast of a musical about revolution is….revolting against a would be dictator. That sounds like a great theme for a senior paper.

    21. Munkeyman18290 on

They should have proceeded to sing, but changed all the lyrics of every song to „*fuck you Donald Trump and your entire family. May you rot in the fires of the deepest hell and may your name be dragged across time next to Hitler and McVeigh in the history books, you fucking orange tinted facsist fuck*“.

I know that doesnt rhyme but still I think it would be a banger.

      >“The Kennedy Center wants to be a place where people of all political stripes sit next to each other and never ask who someone voted for but instead enjoys a performance together.”

Yet they purged all the appointees and installed loyalists to run it

      >Trump was elected by a board that excluded the 18 Democratic appointees purged by the president last week

This reminds me of a really great film gathering for the Nazi party in the film Inglorious Bastards. Js

    24. Anybody know of a video where Trump tries to pronounce this? I would love to see it if so lol

    25. There’s no way that Trump could sit and enjoy any musical for its length. Someone gave him an easy, popular musical to mention and in a week he’ll act like he never liked it to begin with. Ya know, like children would do.
