      Meanwhile, Trump has already decided he does not give a shit what the court says, unless they rule in his favor. Either way the tariffs will continue until morale improves.

      I know that POTUS having tariff powers is unconstitutional but Trump screwing with people’s wallets is what we need.

      I don’t think Trump has ever provided a single shred of evidence that there is some sort of national emergency, threat to national security, payment problems, etc. to get tariffs in place. The only legal reason available is for trade imbalance. Congress made a mistake when it gave this power to the President, and Congress should repeal that part of the law. At least with Congress you are represented in regard to imposing tariffs, which are a form of taxation.

      It’s only a District Court. Sure… up until recent history the District Court had some power… But they are now only hall monitors offering „suggested rulings“. Trump will appeal while ignoring the ruling. Even when SCOTUS possibly rules against him for something… They will have to deputize a non Executive Branch arm of the govt to enforce it. DOJ had made it clear they are the German SA now.

      For all that the trade war is stupid and destructive, Congress explicitly delegated this power to the President. Congress needs to grow some balls and take that power back., not continue to hide behind hoping the judiciary will solve their problems for them.

      Especially these days, where the judiciary is stacked with loons.

      Considering that Trump just decided to put tariffs on foreign movies by claiming „national security“, I think there’s plenty of evidence for the courts to say that his use of them is entirely unreasonable and not motivated by any kind of rational basis related to the law.

      I have doubts that the court will do anything and doubts that he will obey the rulings. If they arent already invalidating everything hes doing because hes ruling unchecked via EO, then what will they say hes doing wrong? Hes already openly ignoring the constitution; nobody in power cares. And as proof of the point, when he decides hes going to ignore rulings he doesnt like, what recourse can the SCOTUS do? All the law enforcement and military answer to trump.

      Trump dosnt listen to courts and denied the Supreme Court and has had no consequences. Trump won’t listen to the federal court eaither. Someone needs to take action and make Trump suffer consequences for his actions
