The real lesson? When a country’s leader won’t accept the result of a free and fair election, it sets a dangerous precedent likely to be repeated. Trump has ruined America. I’m sad for my children.

Myers spurned Judge Jefferson Griffin’s bid to steal a North Carolina Supreme Court seat from Justice Allison Riggs, who narrowly won her race in November. Myers—a Donald Trump appointee and longtime member of the Federalist Society—**ruled that Griffin’s attempt to nullify thousands of lawful ballots violated North Carolinians’ constitutional rights, contravening “rudimentary requirements of equal treatment and fundamental fairness.”**
He ordered the state to certify Riggs’ victory, shutting down Griffin’s attempted theft of her seat.*
How anyone would be able to trust a decision by Judge Jefferson Griffin’ going forward is beyond me.

they didn’t expect to win. They wanted the judge out of the way so the existing court could uphold a board of elections appointee ruling before the new member sits and votes to overrule
I didn’t read the article but I am going to assume that the lesson is republicans are terrible and will lie cheat and steal to win an election because they get to live on grift from the Republican base and oligarchy forever more if they win.
And that the judiciary just shrugs and lets it happen.

I’m so tired of getting doomer-shamed for saying it, but there’s no way in hell we’ll see America correct itself. It would take generations, with an S, just to shift back to neutral on easy-mode.

Ironic- the party that kept claiming their political rivals were trying to steal elections are the very ones actively attempting to steal an election.
It’s only a temporary victory unfortunately, they’re going to appeal and this Supreme Court is awful.
