Firstly they changed the way to give blood, you can’t just walk in you need to book a slot.so people need prior knowledge that blood donation is going on and they don’t bloody advertise.
Then they changed the method of donation, you used to lie down to donate, you now basically sit up to donate. This has led to an increase in people not feeling well/ stopping donations.
It’s all a clear example of someone trying to improve a system that didn’t need improvement

The infrastructure for blood donation needs to be improved if they don’t want shortages. The only place I can donate is the city centre which stays open until 7pm two days a week but closes at weekends. So that limits all 9-5ers to 4 hours of appointment slots per week.
Yet here’s two hospitals near me and multiple clinics in walking distance but none can take donations.
