„If only two dolls show up when I’ve made tea for 30…..Oh Hell NO!!!“

I’ll be lucky to have a job by Christmas, my holiday this year has long been ruined

    3. sedatedlife on

I am glad i am at a point in my life where i do not spend much on Christmas anymore. I imagine the cost of toys will skyrocket for those who still have to buy for children.

    4. Not really concerned about Christmas as much as I am about my job, my bills, you know the necessities.  Dumb ass Trump

    5. orcinyadders on

I can’t even believe the interviewer whiffed so hard on this question. She was looking for clarification on he meant by children having less things, and asked “do you mean the store shelves will be empty?”.

No dip shit. He means Americans need to buy less things for their kids because we “need our medicine” and “things are going to be harder before they’re better”.

Trump has explicitly said we’re in for a bad time and this is him telling us to get our expectations in check. He has not told us what time frame this hardship will be, how bad it will be, who it will impact, or anything else. I honestly don’t know how maga stomachs this guy after claiming they’d reached a breaking point with Biden. They’re actually ok with Trump telling them to get ready for the pain. They’re cheering for it. It’s so fucked.

    6. His doll talk is amazing. „Maybe some beautiful 11 year old girl will have to make due with two dolls for Christmas instead of 30.“

To start with, who the heck is getting 30 dolls for Christmas?

Then, his very numbers take away 93.4% of the dolls. Sure, if tariffs make things a little more expensive and your kid loses one or two toys for Christmas, that’s workable for most people, but over 90% of their Christmas toys? That’s how you get a kid riot.

The fuckin‘ grinch stole Christmas everyone! <—-this needs to be in DEM commercial/campaign ads.

    8. He says it’ll be worth it because „we’ll“ be so rich, but it kind of seems like he’s going to take the money.

    9. NihilisticMacaron on

Can’t say I’m worried about dolls. More worried about daily staple goods.

*“You deserve less“* is one helluva campaign slogan. I definitely think Republicans should go with it!

    11. No-Access-2790 on

Cognitive dissonance is something built into every human being. While it varies from person to person, it can be weaponized by everyone.

For example: when the policies of an administration make shopping expensive, a person, or people, can fox-and-grapes that shit into activism. Stuff is too expensive? Fine. We didn’t want it anyway. In fact, we won’t purchase a single thing for Christmas at all.

You can alter the cost of a lot by totally eliminating the demand. Pain is far more effective than protest. Protest is performative. Mostly unheard by the intended audience, and intentionally defied by the shitty current intended audience. If a people buy absolutely zero dolls (the headline example), it gets heard. With a bullhorn. Attack the ideology and you’ll get more of it, because these people are petulant teenagers who will just double down on their shittiness. Attacking the wallets will get fast results.

By Christmas the rest of the world would have figured out a way to bypass USA tariff and deal with eachother.

    13. PermissionWooden3320 on

And this whole stupid $hit show can be stopped by congress and GOP has decided to block those efforts… US is definitely headed into a recession and maybe even a depression.

    14. Don’t worry everyone, he’ll post an AI generated image of him as Santa Claus and save the day.

    15. ZombiePartyBoyLives on

You’ve heard of Black Friday, but wait until you experience Smash-n-Grab Saturday! Won’t be much on the shelves, but as long as it ain’t bolted down, it’ll be leaving through the window frame! „Got you a bag of rubber bands, Timmy! Ain’t they great? All different colors and sizes, hours of fun. You could put them around a watermelon if we could find one. Maybe shoot ‚em at squirrels if the neighbors haven’t eaten them all yet.“

    16. Why is the whole tarrif and cost increase discussion been shifted to „Christmas presents“ and toys? The increased cost of food and household consumable items, and loss of jobs should be the focus of discussion.

    17. Financial-Special766 on

I thought Republicans were supposed to put the Christ back in Christmas, not take the presents from under children’s Christmas trees like some kind of Ebenezer Scrooge.

“Child’s Christmas” is a euphemism for the entire goddamned economy

    19. JohnGillnitz on

Where is all the talk about the War On Christmas? Sorry, kids. We’re having an Imagination Christmas this year!

    20. If only all the damage done was going to affect kids‘ take at Christmas. As everyone else here has said, it’s more about the loss of jobs, of homes, and of hope. And it’s great that Don’s making wildly outrageous deals with foreign entities using his cryptocurrency. All that money is going straight into his pockets, despite anything he says to the contrary. He has single-handedly made his gig in the Oval Office the hands-down most lucrative grift opportunity the world has ever seen.

    21. Adventurous-Leg-216 on

Lol, Christmas? Christmas. We had a good one about a decade ago…1st and last.

    22. I_heart_your_Momma on

Why do you Americans just sit by and let this happen ?
      Time for action

    23. Necessary-Annual1157 on

The way he talks about kids are just going to have to make due with four dolls instead of ten just shows how ridiculous and out of touch he is.

    24. No toys. But there’ll still be clean beautiful coal for the childrens‘ Christmas stockings

It’s hard to believe a literal Grinch could get himself elected to dog catcher, much less President

    25. Strange_Depth_5732 on

Love how the guy who shits in a gold toilet says „maybe kids will get 2 toys instead of 30.“

    26. He’s blaming it on spoiled American children and their crazy doll obsession.

    27. This clown isn’t going to ruin my Christmas. There are many ways to enjoy the The Winter Holidays without buying anything. For me, and my family, it’s never been about gifts. It’s about family and being Thankful for what you have. It is for us, anyway. I refuse to let this moron ruin our celebrations. He can take a long walk off a short pier…

    28. I think it’s pretty stupid that the accepted spin is “your kids won’t get to be as materialistic as they’d normally be”.

    29. IntelligentStyle402 on

Something tells me, many Americans will be maxing out their credit cards just to live in trumps America. Followed by bankruptcy?

    30. He holds America responsible for his trials and convictions. He hates this country and wants revenge on its people for allowing it to happen. He wanted to get in office to avoid prison and now seeks to harm everyone in the nation. Donald J. Trump hates America and will do everything he can to harm it.

    31. ZebraComplex4353 on

Maybe it’s a blessing in disguise. Maybe this is what we needed to realize it’s better to have the necessities and save for luxuries. In return teach corporations a lesson about only focusing on short term gain.

      “The Grinch Who Tariffed Christmas”

They used to have stockings, and tree lights, and drones,
Little plastic-made trinkets from faraway zones.
But I slapped on some tariffs—ten percent! No, make it twenty!
Now toys from old China? There simply aren’t any.

I watched from my tower, a mile in the sky,
As parents all grumbled, “These prices are high!”
The shelves were half-empty, the gadgets were few,
I said, “It’s the art of the deal—this is what winners do.”

And the libs, oh the libs, with their soy holiday cheer,
Said, “We don’t need presents, we’ve got love and craft beer.”
They painted some signs, tried to chant in the street,
But forgot their pronouns and misspelled “elite.”

      I laughed with a smirk—what a beautiful sight!
“No TikTok this Christmas? I’ve done something right.”
No Xbox, no Switch, no plush Baby Yoda,
Just tariffs and freedom and homemade quinoa soda.

But wait—what’s that sound? From the cold little town?
It’s singing? And hugging? They’re still gathered ‘round?
No tantrums, no whining, no blaming of me?
Even after I tariffed their whole Christmas tree?

I frowned, just a bit, from my golden desk chair,
While adjusting my tie and my perfectly coiffed hair.
Was Christmas, perhaps, just a tad overrated?
Were the libs onto something? …Nah. They’re sedated.

Let them sing, let them knit, let them post on their threads—
My base still wears hats and sleeps sound in their beds.
And next year I’ll hit Barbie, Nerf, and Legos,
Unless Hunter Biden confesses, or Santa says no.

So yes, I stole Christmas, but I did it with style,
And I’ll steal it again—every so often, once in a while.
Because nothing says Christmas like victory sweet:
No toys, no inflation, and libs in defeat.

The only thing Trump’s trade policy is gifting us this season is a masterclass in how to punch yourself in the wallet and blame someone else for it. Merry Tariff-mas, everyone.

    34. AmericanJuggernaut00 on

Some people are so poor they celebrate with a meal only, if that. Comic; a more modest Christmas. You say one is not worth a better future for our children and future generations?

      Weak.
