      ***Translation:***

On July 30, Transnistrian leader Vadim Krasnoselski signed a package of seven „laws“ prohibiting so-called „LGBTQ+ propaganda,“ refusal to have children, and disrespect toward parents. These offenses are punishable by fines of up to 9,200 Transnistrian rubles, equivalent to approximately 470 euros, and even administrative arrest for up to 15 days.

The laws adopted by the Transnistrian authorities cover several areas: media, advertising, information, child protection, cinema, and the Code of Administrative Offenses. In practice, as in the Russian Federation, these laws prohibit the dissemination of any information that could be considered supportive of LGBTQ+ people and the mention of non-traditional sexual orientations, the mention or positive representation of gender reassignment, statements in favor of a childless lifestyle, information that may generate „disrespect for parents.“

The ban extends to media publications, films, books, the internet, educational materials, and advertising. Amendments to these „laws“ will come into force 14 days after Krasnoselski signs them and they are published.

The Promo-LEX Association, which specializes in protecting human rights, has previously warned that these amendments include very vague provisions and will restrict freedom of expression, the right to privacy, and reproductive rights.

Furthermore, like other „laws“ in the Transnistrian region, they may lead to intimidation and persecution by law enforcement agencies and even to the illegal arrest of persons who do not hold the so-called „citizenship“ of the self-proclaimed „Transnistrian republic.“

**A similar package of laws exists in Russia.**

In Russia, the law banning LGBTQ+ propaganda was adopted in 2013. According to meduza.io, until 2022, it was rarely enforced and was generally directed against those who openly disagreed with it. The first fine under Article 6.21 of the Code of Administrative Offenses was imposed in December 2013 on activists Nikolai Alekseev and Yaroslav Evtushenko from Astrakhan, who were found guilty of „propaganda“ because of individual protests and a placard that read: „Gay propaganda does not exist. You don’t become gay, you are born gay.“

Subsequently, the number of administrative cases increased. According to statistics from the Judicial Department of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation, in 2024, Russian courts examined 221 administrative cases based on articles prohibiting „non-traditional sexual relations“ and „gender reassignment,“ „propaganda of pederasty,“ and the dissemination of information „that could provoke the desire to change gender in minors.“

Terrorist enclave that Ukraine and Romania would have jointly conquered and pacified decades ago if it weren’t for Russia

No one in this frozen-in-time shithole wants to have children, and even if they do, they’d rather move to Moldova or another country where their children will have a better life. Move on, the USSR is dead

    5. I’m sorry, TRANS-nistria, known locally as PRIDEnESTROGENvie!?

How do the writers come up with this shit man? What a bunch of hacks

      >Transnistria, officially known as the Pridnestrovia

lol they have the queerest country names. Trans and Pride.

Population of 370,000, honestly I think the gays could invade and destroy them.

Heh, I visited Transnistria and bought a cool looking fridge magnet with Putin. I get weird looks when people see it, but I do tell them that it’s just for the lolz

The president has been offering to “increase the population” with a lot of local women and striking out. So he’s bitter.

Anyway, it’s going to be a long summer and a cold winter in Tiraspol without Russian gas to generate electricity. So they can enjoy that too.

Transnistria is actually a very interesting concept, even if you dont like the russians its pretty crazy they exist.

its kinda sad that all russian speakers are drawn to russia as default :/

I plan to visit next month actually, as part of a trip around the balkans, might be one of the last chances to see that place which seems to be stuck in the ussr. now that theres the ukraine war they really have financial problems and might end up disappearing.

How about the government actually fixes its own issues instead of targeting LGBT people and those who don’t want to have a child because of the economy?

When will these types of heteros get of us? year 2025 and we still gotta read sh*t like this. Ugh

The title is somewhat misleading, it’s not illegal to refuse to have kids, just „statements in favour of a childless lifestyle“ are illegal.

No idea what that could include, since parents talking about their kids os the main thing that convinces others to not have kids.

It’s always the gayest countries that hate the gays huh. You show up in some conservative Muslim country, homosexuality is illegal but every man is greeting their mates by rubbing their noses together, holding hands and writing poetry to each other. Like…. 🤷‍♂️
