And? No one forces the people to speed.
Problem of speeding on the roads is the least annoying. The biggest one is violation related with overtaking on the intersections, crossing the fixed lane and lack of understanding of basic rules among drivers.
French cars in terrible technical condition is another story.
It would be interesting to know what proportion of these 2000 fines were repeat offences within the same time frame. If it was 2000 people, that’s a really large proportion of the population – maybe something wrong with the rules.
I’d also like to know what proportion was in each speed regime. The speed limits on out-of-town roads here are so low. There are many roads with a 70 limit where it would be fine if it were 100, but – correct me if I’m wrong – the top limit is 90. If the limits are too low for the actual conditions, lots of drivers will ignore the limit, and I’ve got a lot of sympathy for that.
