Peat is a type of rock?
I like it every time how easy it is to find Nördlingen on such maps!
This map is utter nonsense. For example “Löss” is not a “rock type”. I could go on forever.
And I’m pretty sure you either didn’t understand or altered the source data.
Having climbed on some of those rocks in Frakenjura, I can confirm that area, at least, is shown correctly.

Yes surface rock is not a 100% accurate title. Near surface substrate might be more suitable. Anyway what is this map good for? The make mixture of elements in the rock determines the available minerals and chemistry for soil development and plant growth. So together with water availability and climate this is the determining factor for soil and landscape development.
