Americans won’t tolerate tariffism
It’s a self fulfilling prophecy at this point
You need to use Trump-speak so the people get it.
>We will have bankruptcies of retailers ~~of very significant magnitudes~~ *the likes of which have never been seen* if ~~this is allowed~~ *radical leftists allow this* to continue.
Dollar General will become 3 Dollar General as every damn thing in the store is china made . . .
Why did Biden and Powell do this?
The article speaks of the current levels ergo the 10% increase on everyone and the 145% or so on China. The original even worse tariffs come back in 50 days assuming no deals and Peter Navarro gets his way in the battle of access over Trump (as basically the only reason they got called off was apparently Bessent ambushing Trump while Navarro was away). If the current levels all but guarantee recession, the expanded levels would definitely lead to something much worse.
Holy shit! He’s doing exactly what he said he was going to so./S
If y’all are wondering where Trump got the idea of these tariffs…. Look no further:

When the redhats own nothing, they will have finally owned the libs.
I don’t think recession can be avoided regardless.
I think if not rescinded, depression is likely.
Trump only knows one thing about tariffs and that’s that it will bring in so much money. Yes if everyone had infinite money, then yes this would bring in money. But so many people are already living paycheck to paycheck or budgeting or cutting back, this will not work on poor consumers. Can’t squeeze blood from a stone and because of that you get bankruptcies.
“if this is allowed to continue” has a nice ominous tone to it.
The US is most likely to be already in recession as reporting takes some time to catch up. A cyclical economic recession occurs , on average, every seven years in the US and has done so since records began.
This time it is being intensified by the radical and moronic actions of Trump and there appears to be no means by which to stop him.
The six time bankrupt felon appears to be bringing on his seventh but this time it will be the global economy.
Im pushing the phrase „summer of bummer“, pass it on.
Thanks Ron Vara
It’s already hurting a lot of small business in other areas. I have a friend who works with a construction company that does government work – like turning an old government building into a storehouse, putting in electrical charging centers, etc.
The company has a new meeting because the government contract office told them they won’t even look at small business proposals because “we don’t know which ones are DEI and which aren’t, so we’re only going to go with bigger corporate companies.”
Which is going to screw over a lot of smaller companies that have been doing this work for decades and put them out of business.
Covid, mismanaged under Trump, destroyed a bunch of small businesses and now he is destroying a bunch of small businesses again.
Seriously, just have the recession happen already. I’m so tired of the average person not taking this seriously and kicking the emperor with no clothes out at this point. I’m so tired of being like scared about it, just have it happen, have the public turn on this and every other dumb thing he’s done, and impeach him.
Preferably an impeachment by May or June thank you very much.
Lol I can’t wait for all the republicans to say “Thanks Donnie”…. Wait they won’t, they’ll blame Biden for it somehow. Just like The Fanta Führer does now
…80 Blank Sailings…
At any point congress could do something but they won’t because they’re all cowards and/or Russian puppets.
It will happen either way. Even if we get trade “deals,” Trump will change his mind a week later or whenever an official says something he doesn’t like. It is horrible for business planning and confidence
Going to hit even harder once JPOW is gone. Thinking about what kind of sycophantic pile of garbage will take that role is even more scary than the tariffs.
It’s starting to get funny how many people still seem to think the recession can still be stopped if we act now.
The depression, maybe, but the recession has been baked in since March.
Considering how Trump is still doing insider trading with the 1% to make them richer, it’s not like he cares. As long as he can uphold the most powerful, he’s fine unfortunately.
The Department of Education is sending five million peoples student loans to collections where their wages will be garnished. Recession is absolutely going to happen
No doubt. Once supply chains are fucked there’s gonna be chaos. Trump has to secure a deal asap. We’ve all seen it happen just a few years ago with covid. Best get your toilet paper.
I saw a very interesting podcast today regarding the housing market. With the recession that’s coming and the amount of people being fired from their jobs, and the loss of tourism as well as all of the bankruptcies of retailers and small businesses that won’t be able to afford the highly tariffed products from China which is where most small businesses get their products from, we are going to have a housing bust that’s going to make 2008 look like a walk in the park. You see in 2008 we still had some money in the government and resources to bolster the banks. Now our government is crashing all around our heads and so is our country and our reputation and our housing market as well. This one vote that a lot of people didn’t vote and a lot of people voted just to ‚get the libs‘ is going to have ramifications that will be felt for generations
I like that they will deny it right to the day they can’t.
I’ll lose my job if this is the case, I’m sure of that.
Perhaps I have cognitive dissonance, but this is something that Congress can come together to stop whenever they want.
I understand our GOP congresspeople do throat training for Trump on the daily, but I like to think it gets to a point where enough of them calculate that following this is political suicide/will bankrupt their family/will destroy the country and will dissent and put a chokehold on Trump’s economic policies. I’m not exactly sure what it would look like from there but as the damage continues to realize, cooler heads won’t just stand by and watch it all burn.
Good…
You get what you voted for…
My predictions for past 6 months – severe recession or even Depression
Cool so short the market into oblivion, make money on the way down, buy everything for peanuts
Unfortunately, the markets won’t price this in until it’s too late. There has been some sell off but nothing that would be required to change trumps opinion. Trump just doesn’t want the Great Depression and he is surrounded by yes men. Trump legitimately thinks there will be some short term pain in the short term, but amazing growth in the long term. At some point, Trump will be drowning in his economic downturn and we will be doomed because he is too incompetent to calm the markets and build trust with investors/business.
Not just retailers. [This girl gets it](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ej4j04V72DU).
She should find agents and sell her stranded stock into the EU, Oz, NZ and/or Canada instead and wait until the US recovers sane governance.

He will cause this problem. Then when backs off, he will claim victory.
Depression, easily. It’s already hurting retired individuals and people laid off.
