    1. Pope Francis used his [final public address](https://www.vatican.va/content/francesco/en/messages/urbi/documents/20250420-urbi-et-orbi-pasqua.html) to warn politicians against “stirring up” anti-migrant sentiment, hours after meeting [US Vice President JD Vance](https://inews.co.uk/topic/jd-vance?ico=in-line_link).

The Pope, who [died today at the age of 88](https://inews.co.uk/news/pope-francis-dies-tributes-live-3549550?ico=in-line_link), was able to greet crowds at the Vatican in his popemobile yesterday, before delivering his Easter Sunday blessing in what turned out to be his last public appearance.

An aide read out his annual Urbi et Orbi blessing and speech, with the Pope saying only: “Brothers and sisters, Happy Easter!”

The speech had an international focus, addressing many of the world’s great conflicts, as well as humanitarian crises which receive less attention.

      # Warning against anti-migrant sentiment

The speech nodded to a rise in anti-migrant sentiment – warning that “contempt” was being “stirred up” towards migrants, “the vulnerable and the marginalised” – as [Donald Trump continues his mass deportations](https://inews.co.uk/news/world/trump-revoke-immigration-status-ukrainians-fled-us-3569630?srsltid=AfmBOoqfs2dHXscQsW6enamBy6npw-Dwa-NqO-uHmqwO9Feh_psPVOdL&ico=in-line_link) in the US.

He said: “How much contempt is stirred up at times towards the vulnerable, the marginalised, and migrants.

“I appeal to all those in positions of political responsibility in our world not to yield to the logic of fear which only leads to isolation from others, but rather to use the resources available to help the needy, to fight hunger and to encourage initiatives that promote development.”

The Pope met with Vance on Saturday, with the Vatican noting in a statement: “There was an exchange of opinions on the international situation, especially regarding countries affected by war, political tensions and difficult humanitarian situations, with particular attention to migrants, refugees, and prisoners.”

Closer to home, the Pope mentioned victims of domestic abuse – commenting on “how much violence we see, often even within families, directed at women and children”.

It’s almost as if if God does exist he hates tradcatheters.

Ah well, not the first Catholic to die because of Trump and Vance and his kind. And certainly not the last.

    3. Thankfully the vast majority of papal electors were appointed by Francis rather than his more conservative predecessors. He even created 21 new cardinal positions in December 2024, probably to further protect his legacy.

Vance and co. will be butthurt about it, but it is very likely that the new pope will come from a progressive tradition and will continue Francis‘ reforms.

    4. Are we absolutely sure there wasn’t a meeting in the White House where Trump said „Will no one rid me of this troublesome Priest?“ and JD Vance just happened to overhear it?

I don’t believe the Trump Administration was the least pleased with what Pope Francis had to say. The pontiff’s words make Trump’s Easter rants look like they came from Lucifer.

The leader of this supposedly Christian country did not go to church Easter Sunday.

He spent Easter Sunday sulking and publishing hate-messages to his enemies.

In his words, Pope Francis was a „disgrace“ and a „pawn of Mexico“. I don’t blame Trump for being devilish – he’s a known quantity. I do blame the people who voted for him, for saddling the rest of us with this evil, egomaniacal criminal.

I commented to my wife just yesterday afternoon that the Pope would soon die after meeting with JD Vance, and then I awoke to this news!

      This is bad.

It’s sad that in his last moments he had to entertain JD couch . Hopefully he told him what a failure he is to the faith.

    10. Pope Francis: „Beelzebub, I have a message for your master. Tell him to go to hell.“

Many people are saying – smart people, big strong people, tears in their eyes – that Vance was the last one to be with the Pope, and that maybe other stuff happened. It’s certainly a very suspicious situation. Very sad, very sad and very suspicious. A lot of people suggest that he did something and hopefully someday people are going to find out. As you know, there’s no statute of limitations. So, it would be a very good, very good thing to do.

    12. Shortly after meeting JD, the Pope suffered the same fate as the Ohio State Championship trophy…. Coincidence?

The Pope died right after meeting JD Vance—proving once and for all that divine patience has its limits.

    14. If everyone can google “why did JD Vance kill the Pope” to get that trending it would be great, thank you.
