He’s been sick recently. He probably doesn’t want to be exposed to a walking pathogen.

These people just show up to create a scene. Its all a set up to be able to claim victimhood.

A busy, powerful person needs to prioritize time. JD would obviously be less important than the Pope’s fishing time. Plus, there’s Easter and all.

      > Vance acknowledged the Pope’s criticism, calling himself a “baby Catholic” and admitting that there are “things about the faith that I don’t know.”

Then maybe stop being so arrogant you little shit stain.

It’s nice the Pope basicly told Vance to get fucked. Vance is just a fake Christian. In reality, he’s a godless heathen.

The arrogance of right-wingers like Vance is astounding.

These twats just show up at the Vatican and expect the Pope to drop everything just to be lectured by their dumb ass because they arrogantly think they are experts about Catholicism.

I am an Atheist who has visited the Vatican, and I showed vastly more respect even though I am certain it is all based on mythology. I was very polite to all persons. I did not debate with anybody, Instead, I immersed myself in the history and architecture of the Vatican.

I will never forget when the pope called out Ken Paxton by name, and now he is running for senator. Look it up

You know, I do like this Pope. Dressing Vance down in public. Not too subtle “you know nothing”! Refreshing!!!

Vance became a Catholic because it’s trendy among fascists to convert to Catholicism right now. He’d be a satanist if that wing of the movement had somehow gained greater prominence.

Someone should tell Vance you don’t need religion to be ecompassionate , tolerate and respectful to others. Atheist  can do it without any God.

Imagine being such a terrible Catholic that the pope dislikes you personally.

Stories of JD Vance trying to visit people/places and being utterly denied is my comfort news at this point.

the Pope said I gotta use oxygen aint gonna waste none on JD Vance.

      Respect it.

When the pope is having someone lecturing you about compassion, you really fucked up.

Ohhhh, wow. So Vance is Catholic. And if he is really sincere about his faith and being Catholic, he has got to be a bit freaked out.

I am Catholic. I am not a practicing Catholic right now, kinda lasped, and if i were in this situation, even as a lasped or nonpraticing Catholic, I would be shitting myself. Especially since he has to know that this administration and the goals of it are almost completely out of line with the Church’s beliefs. Exception being things like Abortion but even then, the church official stance is direct abortion not ok, but indirect abortion ok…i.e.life of mother situations..and the usa in some states are like nah, just die mom, should have wombed better..

So i would love to know what is going on in his head beside the obvious chimpanzee banging symbols to calliope music intermixed with replaying hitlers‘ speeches on loop.

The Pope telling you to step off and sending his number 2 to tell you off and how you suck has got to be unsettling, even to a shitty at being Catholic, Catholic person.

    16. Was the Pope wearing a suit, does he even own one? Also, did he say Thank you?

Imagine having the actual head of your religion refuse to meet with you, when you are the literal Vice-President of the United States, but sending one of his underlings to lecture you.

And then imagine it not being in the top ten humiliating things that happen to you.

    18. StagOfSevenBattles on

Making countries despise him, fumbling trophies and annoying the pope at Easter, Vance is on a perpetual losing streak. What a joke.

    19. rainshowers_5_peace on

The Pope convinced John Boehener to quit. He was also part of Sean Spicer deciding he’d had enough.

I’m very lapsed and I don’t trust the church as an institution, but this specific Pope is more „Jesus“ than „Paul“ so if anyone can convince Vance to do… something good its him.

    20. ExpertReference2979 on

As a Catholic, I can assure you, when the Vatican admonishes someone (especially a particular member of the Church)…it isn’t looking good for said person.

Pope Francis could have ordered an American Catholic bishop to admonish him privately, and actually may have for all we know.

This looks like, no pun intended, Vance’s „come to Jesus meeting“.

Vance calls himself Catholic and ignores almost every beatitude and corporal act of mercy.

Good on the Pope for shunning Vance. He deserves it.

It’s funny to me how many Republicans go to church, sit through the homily, are told to love their neighbors, act with love and compassion, etc — and then vote the way they do.

      It truly boggles the mind.

    22. mimosasonrack on

The way he’s married to a brown woman being a white supremacist is wild to me. He’s constantly saying backhanded racist remarks about brown people. He probably let somebody call his children a slur if it was “fun natured”

    23. MarxistMan13 on

Lecturing a Republican on compassion is like lecturing a dog on astrophysics. They don’t have the capacity to even pretend to understand it.
