Switch to S pankki, you get the points back at least when shopping from their stores
This is normal. I needed to provide my student visa every year while banking with Nordea. Without a Finnish bank account you won’t be able to do anything. So, I don’t suggest going that route.
I guess you could try another bank. But I don’t think S Bank offers service in English anymore.
Banking laws are different everywhere.
I Succest you do what they want. I have heard, they lock the account (and cards etc), if don’t do so. Banks are very strict of the regulations (towards the bank), and that „knowing you customers“ is something they take very seriously.
Banking is regulated by laws. You have to be a resident of the country to be accountable to said laws effectively (note that it doesn’t mean that illegals are necessarily unable to be held accountable). It doesn’t matter, they have the right to ask if you are legally in Finland in order to make sure they aren’t facilitating you committing a crime/fraud. If your permit presented when you opened the account is expired/is expiring, it’s completely reasonable for them to ask if you’ll get a new one.
They aren’t trying to restrict how you spend your money, for heaven’s sake. It’s just procedure.
Are you suggesting that the bank is lying to you in that message? Or what’s the point
This is part of their know your customer/anti money laundering process which is legally mandated. There’s no point in being antagonistic for a reasonable request.
Yeah they have to do this, its the same also elsewhere in Europe basically
I’m at poppankki, never had this
