Wir haben uns zurückgepackt und die Gästeservices sagten uns, dass sie gegen eine geringe Gebühr Wäsche anbieten. Wir dachten, wir haben sie nur selbst gewaschen. Dann sagten sie, wir können es schaffen. Wir haben gerade die Rechnung zurückbekommen und es waren über 200 Dollar amerikanische Dollar für einen kleinen Korb?
Wäsche Kleidung hier ein Luxus! Oder habe ich gerade Touristen gefangen? Ich hätte klären sollen, aber die Sprachbarriere war nicht großartig, so viel härter.

I‘ve seen higher prices per piece in Swiss hotels. I would say this is average. It‘s also the reason I never wash clothes by the hotel in Switzerland. Price per washing load like in many other countries is not very common here (once saw it for 20.-) and mostly available at hostels.
My only question is the socks. Did you have 10 individual socks (5 pairs) or 10 pairs (20 socks) because 3.50 per sock rather than per pair would be a bit of a „gotcha“ moment for me, at 7 total per pair. (It’s not like you’d wash only one sock).
If it’s per pair, then it’s a reasonable price.
Also, it doesn’t matter where you are in the world, washing at a hotel is always gonna be „expensive“ in the local context of prices, it’s just that you’re doing it in Switzerland.
It’s pretty expensive, but washing small items like socks and underwear in a hotel will give you a bad time in a lot of places

Yes and yes. Laundry service in a Hotel is crazy expensive and i‘d consider it a trap. On the other hand i never saw a reasonable priced laundry service in a hotel anywhere in the world. So this is not something specific to switzerland. Its more a universal trap.

Washing is not the luxury, ironing is. Sorry to hear that you experienced that, some hotels charge crazy charges. Maybe you can get a refund by telling them that you just wanted to clothes washed and not ironed?
I travel a lot. A real lot. Never have I handed over a laundry bag without a slip listing the contents and the price per item.

That‘s not a trap, those are standard laundry prices, are they high? Yes! Can you avoid it? Yes, there are other alternatives. And the prices were listed before you sent your stuff to wash.
Like in every other country I would always first make the deal and then use it. It’s clear your fault.

You got definitely tourist trapped. My mom can‘t do her own laundry because of her broken back and pays 50 Francs per 50L bag of clothes, including them retrieving the bags at home and delivering them back again neatly folded.
Edit: I think it’s a 30L bag not 50L, but still.
That’s not a swiss tourist trap. All hotels worldwide do loundry overprized, often it’s cheaper to buy a new tshirt in the city instead of getting the dirty one washed by the hotel 😀

its a tourist trap. Normal tourists never use this service. I travel with a family of 4, never washed anything at the hotel. I use the service on business travel, and just book it to the company. Hotels usually play at this with their high prices
