Submission statement: In addition to reducing emissions, every government needs to be actively searching for metaphorical cracks and fissures that the effects of climate change can work their way into, and start sealing them up. Otherwise the consequences will be catastrophic.
The author obviously has never lived in Florida lol. There is a reason that the „Florida Man“ appears most often in July and August.
As dour as headlines like this are, it gives a certain melancholy-like hope: we’re not pretending there isn’t a massive climate catastrophe happening in real time. Can’t stop it, now we can only limit the damage. How much damage will our leaders tolerate? How much will we let them?
I’m not sure it’s true that they’re not ready. The capitalist idea of climate readiness is militarized police.
