Meine Freundin ließ mich diesen vietnamesischen aromatischen Balsam entdecken, den Sie auf den Bildern sehen können. Wenn ich mich für alle natürlichen / traditionellen Medizin interessiere, möchte ich mir einige bestellen, aber ich bin immer misstrauisch gegenüber ihren chinesischen Nachbarn. Ihr Vater bekam diese spezifische Marke (mangels eines besseren Begriffs), während sie in Vietnam arbeitete, und sollte also vertrauenswürdig sein. Weiß jemand, wo er in der Schweiz von diesem speziellen Kauf / Bestellung kaufen kann?

Your worry about Chinese counterfeits is funny, because this is traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) – I think it originates in Singapore. I first met it as „White Tiger Oil“ in a pharmacy in Taipei but nowadays White Tiger Balm and Red Tiger Balm are readily available worldwide. The former should be close to the Vietnamese Golden Star Balm and it’s readily available in most pharmacies.
So White Tiger Balm (or oil) helps against cold symptoms. In Western medicine, Vicks VapoRub is very close but a little less „natural“.
Red Tiger Balm on the other hand is a heat rub to help relax tense muscles and ease aching joints. I think it’s White Tiger Balm plus some extra ingrediet. Dul-X is Western medicine that is similar to it but much less „natural“.
If you’re after the smell, (either) Tiger Balm is probably closest, followed by Vicks VapoRub.
But yea, you should also be able to find and import the Vietnamese version (Golden Star Balm) from German online retailers.
Edit: be warned that Red Tiger Balm can stain your clothes (a problem Dul-X doesn’t have.)
Edit: oh, if you’re just after the smell (and maybe freeing your nose/sinuses), you might want to try the Vicks Inhaler, I even think it’s all natural as well.
Is it really different from Tiger Balm ? Because this you can find in a lot of pharmacy 🙂
